Do you want to play "The Hunger Games"?

Last night I watched The Hunger Games with one of my girlfriends. I hadn't read the books, but I can honestly say I want to now.

It was quite gruesome and from a political/analytical standpoint, very telling of the human nature.

I have to admit I kept trying to compare it to the Japanese movie Battle Royale. The concept is very similar, but there is more of a story to The Hunger Games.

It's a dog eat dog kind of world we live in, and I wonder if our society would ever get to that point.

I'm not going to write a review, but of just commentary.

The movie did have a lot of familiar faces and the main actress who plays Katniss reminds me of Natalie Portman a bit. I love Stanley Tucci so that was a surprise to seem him there. Additionally, it nice to see Liam Hemsworth. Although he didn't have much to play, I can only sense he will have a bigger role in the movies to come.

Throughout the movie, I kept trying to figure out why the actor who plays Peeta looks familiar. And that's because he's in the Journey 2, Bridge to Terabithia, and the classic movie that we watch all the time at work, Zathura. Wow...he's really grown up.

Anyways, I liked the movie. I wouldn't mind watching it again just to pick the movie apart and find parallels to our own society.

Check it out and form your own opinion!
